Why RoadGuard?
Increasing awareness of the risks created by dusty industrial environments to human operators and operations
Safer Roads
Maximize efficiency
Streamline maintenance
Up to 50% of the mining operating cost can be ascribed to haulage
The condition of haul roads plays an important role in reducing cycle time, as it is responsible for providing appropriate conditions for the truck to reach its designed performance at the planned and safe speed. Besides that, underperformance of a haul road impacts immediately on operational safety and cost-efficiency, since up to 50% of the mining operating cost can be ascribed to haulage, and it is dependent on well designed, constructed and maintained haul roads [1]. Reference [2] evaluates the impact of sub-optimal road conditions on costs related to truck fuel and maintenance.

Maximizing Haul Fleet Productivity
Understanding the Impact of Rolling Resistance on Mine Operations
“How rolling resistance impacts your haul fleet productivity depends on various factors, including grade of haul, truck type and model (electric or mechanical drive, type of engine), and load carried. A good rule of thumb for an ultra-class truck (with approx. 4.2kW/t of GVM) is that a 1% increase in rolling resistance equates to a 10% decrease in speed on ramp, or a 26% decrease in speed on the flat.”
Reducing rolling resistance is therefore a key focus in the design, construction and maintenance of haul roads.
Web Dashboard. Insightful Analytics
The web portal provides an intuitive and visually engaging platform for handling and filtering road condition data. Users can analyze data by selecting specific sections, triggering algorithms to dynamically color-code roads from green (good) to red (worst). Additionally, users can filter data based on recorded speed and choose different axes of the IMU for analysis. Results are overlaid onto a Google Maps view of the mine, enabling users to seamlessly correlate analysis results with specific road segments, enhancing understanding and decision-making.
Plug-and-play Installation
Installation of RoadGuard is a breeze, requiring just four bolts for mounting and connecting power: 10-30VDC. In addition, two antennas are connected—one for GPS and another for 4G connectivity. Thanks to its user-friendly design, the installation process is swift and efficient, ensuring minimal downtime and enabling rapid deployment for immediate road condition monitoring.
